Get Ready for Summer Fun in Toastmasters!

Get ready for summer fun! District 42 is inviting your club to register for summer meetings. Summer meetings are are a great way for your members to keep up their Toastmasters skills during the summer. Also, it’s a chance for your club to recruit new members and gain momentum into September.  To sign your club up, please fill out the SurveyMonkey registration below:

Toastmasters International awards the Smedley Award for clubs that sign up five new members during the months of August and September. So come on, join the summer fun with Toastmasters.

Club Officer Training Takes Place June 4!

Congratulations on being elected as a club officer for 2011/12.  You have taken a great step forward as a leader by serving as a club officer.

If this is your first time serving as a club officer and you’re not sure about your role, District 42 offers training to help club officers perform their duties effectively.  These courses are taught by experienced Toastmasters, and you will learn with fellow club officers from the Edmonton Area and Northern Alberta.  It will also be your chance to meet other Toastmasters from Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

If this is your second, third or umpteenth time, it’s a great chance to mentor other club officers and help your club succeed in 2011/12.  Also, clubs having at least four club officers trained (in the summer and winter sessions) qualify for Goal 9 of the Distinguished Club Program in 2011/12.

Wild Rose Member Elaine Saxer-Gillies Wins District 42 Citation

Congratulations to Elaine Saxer-Gillies!  The founder of the Toastmasters Boot Camp was awarded District 42 Citation for 2011.

Elaine started Toastmasters Boot Camp as a program to educate Toastmasters about the available educational opportunities, and to help them achieve Communication and Leadership goals, including Distinguished Toastmaster.

The District Citation Award was created to recognize and reward members for outstanding contributions to the organization which further the Toastmaster spirit and ideals, which are not otherwise recognized through existing District and International programs.

Congratulations on your outstanding achievement Elaine!
